The Olympics is all about being inspired, and outside of the pool or the balance beam tonight, anyone watching got a heavy dose. It happened when a 12-year-old boy went running alone up a deserted road, staring straight in to the camera, with sweat dripping from his grey T-shirt. With all of the TV commercials trying their darndest to capture millions of viewers during the Olympic coverage, none has struck a chord the way Nike did in its true-to-form minimalist message.

TV Dilemma

I was recently asked what my favorite show on Television is right now.  That is a very complicated question for me because there really are THREE that I love - and they rotate between 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place depending on that week's episode and the attitude I am in that day.  :)

But, here are the THREE best shows on Television right now (according to me, and in no particular order):
1) LOST
2) Heroes
3) 24

24 Party and Big Shocker

Oh My GOODNESS!!!!  Ok, before I go any further here, there is a SPOILER ALERT for the show “24” – so if you don’t want to know anything about it, then skip this post and move on to another. 

Last night Christi and I went again to our 24-party and had a blast.  We sure love these parties.  It is just so much fun to gather with peers, and all youth ministry peers and spouses, to watch a show together, to hang out, and just to have some fun without having to talk business the whole time.  We love it.  Also, those who attend the 24-party are just so much fun to be around. 

So we could not believe the show last night.  There are certain things that seem easier to predict on the show 24 (now, don’t get me wrong nothing is easy to predict on 24… but some things seem easier than others).  But the shocker tonight was completely unexpected and sent all of us almost into screams.  All season long we have been led to believe that the President of the United States (on the show) was quite the wimp and indecisive.  We were also led on for many episodes to believe that the vice-president was not a good guy, and most likely the person responsible for the chaos that has been happening.  Last night we found out the big shocker that the president who we thought was a wimp was really the mastermind behind all of the crazy terrorist events that had been happening so far.  All of a sudden he turned out to be a strong-willed, controlling jerk.  None of us saw it coming and we were all in shock.  WOW.  This show just continued to get better and continues to twist in turn in ways I never expected.  How fun!!!!!

"24" Party

Christi and I continue to go on Monday nights to gather together with about 20 other Youth Pastors and their spouses to watch the show "24"!!!!  It is SO much fun and we continue to just love the show.  But additionally, it is a blast to gather together with peers - and peers in youth ministry - to watch the show together and hang out.  We do this every Monday night and it is just a blast!!! 

Day 5 of "24"!!! - Part 2

So the 4-hour Season Premier is officially over.  I decided to wait until the end of tonight's episodes to write my comments and thoughts about this opener.

All I can say right now is WOW!!!!  The writers of the show "24" are absolutely amazing!!!  I spent the first 15 minutes of the first episode wanting to scream out loud at the TV and spent many a time gasping and saying under my breath, "OH MY GOSH!!!!!" 

I must admit I was a little nervous about this season before it began, but all worries have dissipated quite quickly.  In just the first 4 hours we have seen a major crisis, major tension, a major resolution, and another crisis begin.  Oh, there is so much more than that too.  I don't want to write any spoilers on here for those who have not seen it or want to see it, but what I can say is that I love this show and look forward to another stress-filled, anxiety-ridden, anxiously-awaiting-next-week year of "24"!!!

On another note, I went both Sunday night and Monday night to the new "24 Party" that Christi and I go to and it is SO much fun!!!  I love it.  They post rules on the door for viewing, make it fun, have lots of food, and it is just great to watch the show with 20 other people who love "24" and are so into it.  The commercial breaks are a riot because that is the only time anyone is allowed to speak at all, and everyone has to get out all their comments at once.  It is a fun madhouse.  So, it is looking to be a great year in more ways than one. 

Day 5 of "24"!!!

Tonight, one of my absolute favorite Television shows begins it's New Season - Season 5.  That show would be "24".   I have been an avid watcher of this show since the first episode of Season 1.  I have been anticipating this season and anxiously looking forward to it for months now (Actually since season 4 ended to be honest). 

I also love what FOX has done with this show last year and this year in terms of the episode schedule.  They didn't start the season until now (January), but then the entire season runs without a single repeat and without a single week off.  I much prefer that and appreciate the consistency of the schedule.  I have purposely avoided any news, articles, hints, or any other information about this Season of "24" because I want to go into it without any preconceived ideas or expectations (or as much as I can).

Tonight I will be gathering with a bunch of other Youth Pastors and their spouses to eat dinner and then enjoy a great "24" Watching-Party.  We will then gather again tomorrow night for the next episodes of the show as it gets going with a BANG!!!

I will probably let you know tomorrow an update of what I thought of the first two episodes of "Day 5" and how excited I am for the rest of the season.

The big question on my mind:  Who will and who won't be back as regulars this season???  Soon to find out!!!
